Combustion
Everyone
has noticed combustion and probably didn’t even realize it. Combustion occurs
in engines, campfires, and even in matches. Have you ever noticed when a match
is lit it flares up and as it burns the match turns into ashes? When something
burns that is basically combustion.
In
a more detailed wording, combustion is a chemical
change
in which the reaction uses up something like
oxygen
to burn and release heat or energy.
Now
that may seem like a lot to swallow in one sentence but in simpler words it is
when something burns.
In
matches, the wood burns along with the oxygen in the air and the end product is
the ashes of the match. In engines the gasoline burns and the end product is
the exhaust fumes from the tailpipe.
