A physical property of matter is its ability to
carry electricity. This is known as conductivity. Certain
matter
is more conductive than others, normally matter with many free electrons
are good conductors, such as metals and ions.
You know this, because most of you have seen the wire that is used in most
electrical equipment, not only that, but you also know that wood is not
used to carry electricity from one source to another. Ions are good
conductors also, the water in the bath tub is a good example. Most
tap water has many impurities in it, including a lot of free floating
ions.
These ions are great for carrying and conducting the electricity that
might
be in a radio that you have near the water. If this radio where to
fall in the tub, and for some reason have a frayed wire, the water would
give the electricity a medium to spread through the
water.
