Kinetics

Energy comes in all various kinds and when energy is generated through motion then it is called kinetic energy.

Here’s a little experiment you can do, hold a ball about eye height. When you hold it that high you have energy stored in it called potential energy. When you release the ball that stored energy is released as a kinetic energy because it is in motion.

Rates are characterized by kinetic energy because in rates you are looking at a speed. The speed of a car, the speed of the ball falling, and the speed at which a chemical reaction is proceeding are all governed by kinetic energy.
